Is AutoArt worth the money? An honest look at the premium brand
Anyone who sees the price of one for the first time AutoArtmodel sees, hesitates. 150, 200, sometimes 300 euros for a model car – is that justified?
The short answer: yes. But not for everyone.
What you get for the money
AutoArt was founded in 1998 with a clear goal: to build model cars that are as close to the original as technically possible. The result is models in which doors open with a solid click, steering wheels turn and interiors show details that you only notice at second glance - seams on the seats, switches on the center console, a dashboard that looks very similar to the original.
In addition, there are original licenses from the vehicle manufacturers and color schemes according to genuine manufacturer specifications. AutoArt doesn't build generic sports cars - they build them Lamborghini Miura JOTA SVR in exactly this red, the Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS with exactly these stripes, the Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger in exactly the same silver that Sean Connery drove.
Why 1:18?
AutoArt produced mainly in 1:18 scale - and there is a reason for that. In this format, a Porsche 911 measures around 25 cm. Large enough to show details that disappear at smaller scales, small enough to fit in any display case. It is the scale that serious collectors choose when they want to really look at a model - not just display it.
Who is it for? AutoArt nothing
If you are looking for a model car that simply looks good and is cheap, this is it AutoArt wrong. There are alternatives that look similar at first glance and cost significantly less. The difference only becomes apparent when you hold it in your hand – and when you take a second or third look.
AutoArt is also not for collectors who value quantity over quality. With the budget for one AutoArt-You can get three or four models elsewhere.
Who is it for? AutoArt exactly right
For collectors who really want to understand a specific vehicle. They know why Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is traded in Japan for six-figure sums. The difference between one Lamborghini Diablo GTR and a normal Diablo. The at Bugatti Chiron Don't ask why it costs so much - but why it costs so little compared to the original.
Who once with AutoArt started, rarely buys anything else.
