Auto Union occurs with a type C with the start no. 18 and piloted by her driver star Bernd Rosemeyer on June 14, 1936 for the well -known Eifel race at the Nürburgring. One of the most memorable "fog races" should ever be driven on the Nürburgring. The race went over 10 rounds 228 km race distance. The first round is already determined by the three most important drivers of that time. Rudolf Caracciola on a Mercedes W25 takes the first place, followed by the old Haudegen Tazio Nuvolari on Alfa Romeo P3 and in third place, Bernd Rosemeyer with his type C. After the third round, it is initially sensational nuvolari in front of Caracciola at the top. However, Rosemeyer is constantly catching up. After caracciola has left because of a shock absorber damage, a gripping duel for victory between Nuvolari and the daredevil Rosemeyer is created. He lives up to his name and takes over the top of the field from the 7th round. Nuvolari rushes after a clear distance. The unpredictable happens from the eighth round. Suddenly strong fog slump in the Nürburgring in an impenetrable fog wall. Visibility less than 20 meters! And what does Rosemeyer do? This Teufelskerl drives without taking back the speed practically without a view and only according to route memory and an obviously innate 7th sense of orientation and dangers continues to be undeterred and wins the race. A myth is born. Bernd Rosemeyer goes into the annals of racing history as a "fog master". Auto Union has made another sign with the type C winning vehicle that the previous dominance of Mercedes is no longer inviolable.
"Explanation ... Auto Union mixes up the Grand Prix racing scene!" So in 1936 the headlines may have been the headlines. What is meant by the Auto Union Type C from 1936 and 1937. The car, which took part in the famous fog race at the Nürburgring in 1936, dedicates CMC to a high -quality model in a edition of only 1,500 pieces worldwide. Like hardly any other vehicle before, the Grand Prix racer, developed by the brilliant designer Ferdinand Porsche, wrote sustainable racing history. Not least because of his highly talented driver Bernd Rosemeyer.
